Special Forces Readiness Evaluations (SFRE) and Special Forces Evaluations (SFE) measure your potential as a Special Forces Assessment and Selection (SFAS) candidate.

SFEs are one-day events and SFREs are multi- day events. The SFRE is typically for currently serving members of the military while many SFEs are open to the public.

SFRE can or may consists of:

  • Team Events

  • 12-Mile Ruck

  • ACFT

  • 5-Mile Run

  • Swim

  • Land Navigation

SFE consists of:

  • Hand-Release Push-Ups

  • 5-Mile Run

  • Pull-Ups

  • Plank

  • Ruck March (8 miles up to to 12 miles)

SFRE/SFE events are not preparation for SFAS; your performance is simply an indicator.

Successful completion of an SFRE/SFE is mandatory in order to receive a slot to SFAS through 19th and 20th Group.

Many candidates attend multiple SFRE/SFE events on their path to SFAS. Most candidates are invited back for a second SFRE/SFE and use the experience gained at their first appearance to better themselves.

SFRE/SFE events may count as your monthly drill.

Most individuals who perform well at an SFRE or SFE also perform well at SFAS.
